Spanish Education Awards 2010 given by the Embassy of Spain in Ireland
General Information
- The Consejería de Educación is the Education Department of the Spanish Embassy in Ireland and represents the Spanish Ministry of Education in this country. The Consejería seeks to promote and support the teaching of Spanish language and culture through several programmes and services that are made available to schools across the Republic of Ireland. Irish schools can benefit in the following ways:
- Opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Teachers can obtain grants to follow courses in Spain. Every year the Spanish Ministry of Education offers up to 15 grants for Irish teachers to attend high-quality summer courses in different universities, such as Granada, Madrid, Salamanca, Santander or Santiago de Compostela. Applications can be submitted on-line in spring time.
- Awards for students of Spanish to take part in international summer camps, ruta quetzal and other events.
- Resources for teaching Spanish at all levels and for the promotion of Spanish during Open Days or other similar projects.
- Professional advice and support to forge links with Spain.
- The "Pueblos Abandonados" scheme to offer scholarships to students of Spanish aged 18 - 25. Deadline for applications for 2010 was 5th of May. This is a great opportunity to improve their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture sharing an interesting experience in Spain with other students from different countries.
